The heated saltwater swimming pool at Gite Les Roches

South-facing, private, secluded, heated saltwater swimming pool with separate kids paddling pool & poolside shower - close to the summer kitchen with fridge, sauna, indoor shower, WC and changing facilities - ideal the the perfect gite holiday in France. What more can you ask for ?!

Perfection by day...

Set beautifully in a peaceful valley and surrounded by the natural rock of an old quarry and stone walls, the heated saltwater swimming pool is an ideal place to relax during the day. It is south facing, and its enclosed nature forms an incredible suntrap.

The pool itself is 10m by 4, with both shallow and deep ends, and its Roman steps are perfect for children and toe-dippers alike. The terrace surround is fully tiled with stone on which there are plenty of sun loungers, tables and parasols. A poolside shower and additional children's paddling pool are built into the sun-soaked rocks alongside.

...and at night...

At night the pool really comes alive - a series of up-lighters illuminate the stone outcrops flanking the south face, whilst the underwater lights truly bring out the best of the blue mosaics.

A short skip from the pool, but outside the pool enclosure, is the sauna also set into the rock with indoor shower/loo and changing facilities, together with well-equipped summer kitchen (including fridge and BBQ) in which to recharge one's Pimms!

...with plenty of privacy.

Private and secluded - the nearest neighbour is 300m away.

The pool is not overlooked, being screened by tall trees on the other side of the valley and enjoying a sunny elevated position with a stone wall on the boundary - private enough for skinny-dipping should that take your fancy. The roof terrace also offers complete privacy. The nearest neighbour is some 300m away, and is again screened by trees.

The swimming pool fully complies with recent French safety legislation including self-closing locking gates.

But steady - don't let the allure of the swimming pool stop you from exploring the delights of the local towns such as Eymet, Issigeac, Duras, Castillonnes, Sigoules and Bergerac, not to mention the likes of Domme, Rogue-Gageac, Beynac and Sarlat!

Why Salt??

It is kinder on the eyes.

It does not bleach skin and clothes.

Its extra buoyancy is ideal for kids learning to swim.

Its salinity is similar to that of skin, so it doesn't make one wrinkly after prolonged periods in the pool.

It does not have the odour of Chlorine-based pools.

It is crystal clear and requires less maintenance.

A heated swimming pool you say?

We have a heat pump permanently connected to the filtration system of the pool, guaranteeing a minimum temperature of 24 degs C (75 degs F) from April to October.

The pool's temperature can be raised further by prior arrangement.

In July and August the water temperature is routinely around 30 degs C (86 degs F)the pool area is so sheltered.
